Why This Orchid Is Special
Phalaenopsis pulcherrima alba is the rare white form of a species native to Southeast Asia. Unlike many Phalaenopsis that produce arching flower spikes, this species develops upright branching spikes that can flower repeatedly over many months.
One of its most desirable traits is its incredible ability to produce keikis (baby plants). Mature specimens frequently develop new growths both:
- At the base of the plant, creating larger clumps over time.
- Along older flower spikes after flowering, allowing growers to propagate new plants naturally.
Because of this vigorous growth habit, Pulcherrima Alba becomes more impressive with age, often producing multiple flowering spikes simultaneously.
Care Tips
This species is very easy to grow and rewards good care with frequent flowering.
- Provide bright filtered light.
- Maintain warm temperatures and moderate to high humidity.
- Allow the growing media to dry slightly between waterings.
- Feed regularly with orchid fertiliser during active growth.
- Do not cut old flower spikes unless they have completely dried, as they often rebloom or produce keikis.
Packaging & Delivery
Every orchid is carefully packed using protective packaging to ensure it arrives safely and in excellent condition. Plants are securely wrapped to minimise movement during transit and protect both roots and foliage.
Important Information
As these are live plants, each orchid will vary slightly in size, spike development and overall appearance. Photos are for guidance only. Most plants are currently in spike, although the exact stage of development will vary. Mature plants are well known for naturally producing keikis at the base and on older flower spikes after flowering.
Recommended Add-ons
A Small Self-Watering Pot is an excellent upgrade for this 8cm nursery pot, encouraging healthy root growth and maintaining consistent moisture. For the best results, we also recommend our orchid fertiliser and neem oil as part of your regular care routine.
