Why This Orchid Is Special
Phalaenopsis schilleriana is a true species native to the Philippines and is prized equally for its flowers and foliage. Its leaves naturally carry intricate mottled markings, while the undersides often develop a purple or purplish-green tone. The pattern differs naturally between individual plants, so every orchid has its own distinctive markings.
This is the mottled Tiger Leaf form, not the predominantly silver form commonly marketed as “Silver Leaf.”
As the orchid matures, it may produce long arching flower spikes with many pink flowers. Mature specimens can carry exceptionally large numbers of blooms, although flower count depends on the plant’s maturity and growing conditions.
Care Instructions
Place the orchid in bright, filtered light without harsh midday sunshine. Water thoroughly once the visible roots turn silver, then allow all excess water to drain. Keep water out of the crown and avoid leaving the roots permanently wet.
Maintain warm household conditions, moderate humidity and gentle airflow. Feed every two to three weeks during active growth with diluted orchid fertiliser. A slight reduction in night temperature during autumn can help encourage flower-spike development.
Packaging & Delivery
Your orchid will be carefully inspected and securely packed using specialist live-plant packaging to protect its leaves and roots during transit. Additional cold-weather protection will be used when necessary.
Important Information
This listing is for a bloom-size plant supplied without open flowers. Bloom-size means the orchid has reached a suitable level of maturity to flower, but it does not guarantee an immediate spike or a particular flowering date.
The bloom photograph shows the flowers that mature Phalaenopsis schilleriana can produce. Leaf pattern, silver mottling, plant size, future spike length and flower count will vary naturally between individual plants.
